I have no doubt that the left would love to automate the elimination of freedom.
When they invoke “our Democracy”, they mean a fascist form of Communism.
Wonder if A.I. will know how to pick up the plug and put it back in the outlet after the janitor unplugged it for the weekend.
Here is how I envision the world in this utopia. It would, over time, automatically sterilize considered unfit in terms of IQ or physical capabilitues or height or other markers of health, until we get down to the 500 million lucky human beings. Over time, it would raise the minimal markers and sterilize everybody underneath it. 4’11 minimal height today, 5’0 5 years from now and 5’01 in another 5 years.
Genetic testing at birth would be a norm and so would sterilization at birth be a norm.
“because if A.I. can master chess, why couldn’t it master society?”
“sacrificing its queen to achieve victory.”
Let’s hope it doesn’t feel the need to achieve victory. Wonder what it would be willing to sacrifice?
Mostly to pick me up when I fall and to tell me NO when I am about to do stupid things.
Looking forward to the Butlitarian Jihad against Eurasmus
I reject Schmidt's reality, and insert my own.
Not a fan of ES.
Dr. Theopolis sans Twiki?
And that will only be the beginning. Procreation won’t have to involve male-female relations either. (This is starting to sound like Orwell’s 1984.)
“A former Google CEO revealed how excited he is for you to be ruled by robots”
I wouldn’t mind an automated society. But my biggest concern would be that the technologies was programmed by a Marxist.
No guarantees? So I vote no.
SKYNET is real.....I knew it
Chess has a couple dozen rules, including how the pieces move, and alphazero played millions of games against itself to learn strategies and tactics to a level that would beat stockfish. Humans have millions of rules, and there are no do-overs when you kill people or violate their rights, at least for the people in question. (If, ideed, you care one whit about such considerations.)
To assume that a robot/computer can master govern a society but "can't explain themselves" isn't rational. Of course the robots will be able to explain themselves.
They may very well come to the rationalization based on history and human motivation that free market capitalist systems are the best way to govern.
But they are also likely to excel at planning. Not central planning of the entire economy but rather infrastructure. Things like large infrastructure, highways bridges, water reservoirs, energy, parks will likely be better maintained and planned for. As of opposed to politicians funding pork projects, highways to nowhere, and paying off their bundlers.
The robots will learn humor and laugh when they consider climate change.
If they avoid political prosecutions but put criminals in jail on a non-partisan manner, then great.
I for one welcome our new artificially intelligent pleasure bot overlords.
I still have to make my own drinks but at least my floors are getting vacuumed (somewhat).
