The thesis that bugs can replace cattle for protein is, of course, stupid. To achieve comparable volume the quantity of food required by the insects remains the same. Waste is not changed. Insect pollution will be comparable to cattle flatulation. Infrastructure will be comparable. In fact, nothing significant changes except the taste.
Oh, but think of the delicacy of every 17 years getting to feast on those cicadas by the bowlful!

If my travels through some of our own rural areas along with those in Portugal, Spain and the former Yugoslavia are any indication, we are having a problem with rural depopulation. From Northern Maine to Northern Spain, more people are needed. Even here in Puerto Rico the rural areas are imploding and there is a real demographic winter.
