Wow, 18 years ago.
Now the ChiCom chickens are coming home to roost...
“The ministry said the cause of the fire is under investigation.”
Don’t have to look very far — caused by two missiles.
“The UK just sent a bunch of land-launched Harpoons to be emplaced at Odessa. If the Russian Navy wants to test them out that would be right neighborly of them!”

Yes and that is one of many reasons why the Russians, if they decide to try to take Odessa and environs in southwest Ukraine, would NOT try to have an amphibious invasion. There are other options with fewer and lesser risks.
I’m not saying the Russians will attempt to take Odessa and the remainder of Ukraine’s Black Sea coastal regions. I’m simply saying that the now demonstrated and obviously continuing danger to its Black Sea fleet (by having Ukrainian forces present in the coastal regions) give the Russians a strong rationale to do so.

Putards:
It was a campfire on deck complete with marshmellows and hot dogs to celebrate glorius scuccessful feint in Kiev that got out of hand!
Russia/Putin wants Odessa anyway so any actions by Ukraine to better defend the city are in the best interests of Ukraine. At this point I don’t think the Ukrainians are worried that a strong defense is going to upset the people who want to kill them.
"Ammunition" = Ukraine Neptune anti-ship missiles.
"The crew was completely evacuated" = Likely complete loss.
Well done by the Uke missileers. I'd say an Admiral is about to get sacked or worse.

I certainly agree with that. If I still had kids approaching their age for military service I’d sure try to discourage Navy service. In a major war with a PEER adversary our larger ships could well be sitting ducks.
That wasn’t really a point in contention. Just no love lost for the Soviets-er, Russians
Well, it appears as if the Ukrainians are being quite helpful to the Russians by reducing the cost of future maintenance and repairs on the POS navy. Perhaps Putin should send Zelenskii a personal note of thanks, just to return the friendly gesture. :>)
