This is crazy. What about all those Made in China things?
The Muslim outrage post-9/11 was a profound split between American subcultures. The public, most of it, was most definitely anti-Muslim. The elite decided to go pound the public’s heads in over that.
On Russia, not so much. The pro-Russian sentiment is definitely a small minority taste. Everyone else, high and low, are united for the moment. The white public identifies with the underdog struggle of the Ukrainian white ethnics. Much like them, they are being oppressed by an evil empire. Russia oppresses the Ukrainians, and their own elites oppress them in the US. The American public sees the Ukrainians as the heroes in the underdog struggle, rather like the movie “Red Dawn”. That isn’t going to change as long as there are thousands of Russian troops occupying lands where they are hated.
Its harder to generate pro or anti-China sentiment. The Red Chinese have a sinister air about them and they certainly don’t look like Americans (other than a few of them), but that is also true of Uyghurs or Tibetans or Taiwanese, so whether they are heroes or villains it isn’t going to create much identification in the US.
The Ukrainians LOOK like Americans (yeah, jokes about supermodels also apply).
She’s phenomenal.
“Netrebko will be replaced by Ukrainian soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska”
Operatic virtue signaling.
Will the uninformed idiots also cancel the entire portfolio of Romantics?
>> [regarding 9-11] The Elites decided to go pound the public’s heads over that. On Russia [invading Ukraine], not so much.
Because Putin is attacking the corrupt Elites exploiting Ukraine...
Ooops my mistake. You are correct.
Yep. Putin is anti globalist.
She was great in Missa Solemnis - Beethoven’s greatest work.
