For me, the best music style for worship is dependent on the subject matter of God. For deeply reverent worship (think the magi prostrating themselves to toddler Jesus), I prefer a calm worship. If the church song is about the joy of the Lord or Jesus bringing victory, the best music to express it is either back-woods Pentecostal music, high tempo black church, or maybe even 90's style pop/disco.

It's not just about what sounds good, it's about the best ways to carry the message.

In my personal time, though, over half the time it's got a late 70's to mid 90's rock style. And almost all of it about the Lord.

I used to make several thousands of dollars each year performing in choirs, both sacred and secular. (I also performed gratis in numerous churches.)

The end began - by design - under Barry Soetoro and Obamacare: Churches and non-profit organizations cut their music budgets; they could not afford to pay for the extra “tax” and support music programs.

The Plandemic - again by design - finished the job. Marxist (”Jesuit”) Anthony Fauci specifically targeted church choirs; he no doubt relished doing so: Marxists hate Christ and his Church.

I have no fear whatsoever of this engineered pseudo-pandemic. I have served in church ministry, and I am ashamed of the timid response by American clergy. They have allowed themselves to be duped - just as they long ago were duped by Lyndon Johnson with his subversive 30 Pieces of Silver called the Johnson Amendment.

Thanks for sharing that - I have some of those myself, and I have to say that Shotgun Angel, especially side 2 is one of my absolute favorites.

But I don’t feel like I can let this go without putting in a mention for Darrell Mansfield. Man can play a mean harmonica, and his (and band’s) albums Get Ready and Revelation are also among my favorites.

(Along with Neal Morse, Phil Keaggy, Jeff Johnson, etc. etc. etc...)
