You can stop the nonsense, been to TMI, part of the fleet who owns them and what you are spouting is garbage. You have more to fear living next to a Chemicals manufacturing plant than a nuclear plant.

You post is fear mongering period.

Ery logical. Question for you because I’ve never seen a real answer. What is the expected life span of a solar panel and does its energy output degrade over time? So you are getting 50% return now. Will it be that way by the time it pays for itself in 10 years? And what the maintenance required for it (i.e. windex the panels twice a year? Replace batteries?)
Thanks

The link that you provided does actually not take us to Sun in a Bottle:

Here is a corrected link:

Then you should get the Wikipedia page for TMI changed. That debris was simply MOVED.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Mile_Island_Nuclear_Generating_Station#Decommissioning

Closure

Aerial view
On June 20, 2017, Exelon Generation, the owners of Three Mile Island’s Unit 1 sent to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission a formal notice of its intention to shut down the plant on September 30, 2019,[51] unless the Pennsylvania legislature rescues the nuclear industry, which is as of 2017 struggling to compete as newfound natural gas resources have driven down electricity prices.[52] Exelon Generation’s Senior Vice President Bryan Hanson noted that once Three Mile Island was closed, it could never be reopened for use again.[51] Hanson explicitly stated the reason for the shutdown is because of the unprofitability of Unit 1. Unit 1 has lost the company over 300 million dollars over the last half-decade despite it being one of Exelon’s best-performing power plants.

Shut down of Unit 1 can go in two possible directions, the first being the immediate dismantlement immediately after the radioactive fuel has been moved away from the plant. The dismantlement can proceed after the spent fuel is removed from the pool, put into storage casks, and the casks are transferred to the ISFSI pad for storage until the DOE takes them away to a DOE repository. Dismantling the plant this way will take anywhere from 8 to 10 years.[53] The second option Exelon could take is the long-term storage, which involves mothballing the plant and letting the radiation decay for up to 60 years on its own to a harmless level before completely dismantling the buildings. The advantage to the long-term storage is the lack of radiation when the dismantlement would begin but the disadvantage would be the possible lack of qualified workers at the time of dismantlement. Exelon would also have to pay for limited maintenance and security of the plant over the potential sixty years.[53] The entirety of the spent fuel will be moved to the Londonderry Township facility, which is another process that could take decades to complete.[51]

About 70 state legislators signed the industry-inspired Nuclear Caucus but made no financial commitments.[52]

In April 2019, Exelon stated it would cost $1.2 billion over nearly 60 years to completely decommission Unit 1.[54] Unit 1 closed on September 20, 2019.

Unit 1 was transferred to Constellation Energy in 2022 following separation from Exelon.

Decommissioning
Following the TMI-2 accident in 1979, approximately 99% of the fuel and damaged core debris was removed from the reactor vessel and associated systems and shipped to the Idaho National Laboratory near Idaho Falls, Idaho. Since 1993, when the initial cleanup of the plant was completed, TMI-2 has been in a condition known as Post Defueling Monitored Storage (PDMS) and is under constant monitoring to ensure the plant’s safety and stability.

You post is fear mongering period.

As a senior leader of a Hazmat team for many years before I retired, my teams and I maintained many types of radiation detection equipment along with many electronic dosimeters. We learned in our ongoing training with the military teams from the bases that we drilled with and numerous other sources that low dose radiation is not the health hazard that the uninformed such as Swordmaker believe that it is.

People who work in the nuclear energy industry such as yourself and many others such as pilots who are frequently subject to low doses of radiation on a daily basis actually are less likely to develop most forms of cancer.

Unfortunately, people such as Swordmaker who have an almost religious agenda prefer to back up their nonsense with fear mongering and other misinformation. He should know better but he is a very good example of someone who filters out all information that contradicts his brand of lunacy.

It's not the physics, its the politics.

The Population Control crowd running this Global Warming scam DO NOT WANT A SOLUTION!!!

That's why the "alternatives" they propose, like wind and solar, are cost prohibitive, unreliable, and ineffective.

They can't compete in a free market, without tax incentives.

They are environmental disasters when real estate, manufacturing and disposal costs and processes, are factored in.

To even pretend to be reliable they require batteries for power storage, which is its own environmental disaster.

No you should stop using BS. Yes inside the containment is radioactive and I would not walk in it. No the site is not so containmenated you cannot walk through it.

There are funds fully allocated to break down the dead unit and bury it. The TMI releases never amounted to anything that was any risk to the public. The material can be and is safely handled and can be safely stored. Problem is you are not interested in reality, your interested in playing a cut and paste warrior and do not even understand what you are cutting and pasting.

I am so sorry! I was thinking of something else and called Kevmo, the name of my good friend Swordmaker, our resident Apple expert. Holy hell!

If you’re gonna run a protected thread, you should say so at the get-go. Otherwise, you’re just posting a troll thread. Your interest is in trolling, not the furtherence of science.

You should also be explicit about what you consider to be unacceptable on your CHF thread: Is it Cold Fusion or does it include anti-FISSion viewpoints as well?

It is not clear at all whether or not I am allowed to continue to post in response on this kind of latent-protection thread.

Kevmo, I am not playing by your ground rules. Please just go away and stop harassing the posters in this thread. I have given you the same courtesy on many occasions.

We’ll get it, things take time.

Someone will crack the nut of LENR too. There is clearly something going on, we just haven’t figured it out yet.

You are correct on the tax credit. However if you believe like I do that tax credits and subsidies just inflate the price anyway, then I would have bought the system at the natural and lower price without the credit, just like I bought it with the inflated price (because I got the credit).

So, in other words, the solar system I bought would have been just as affordable without the tax credit as it was with the tax credit.

I will go away after this.

You have never given me that level of consideration, and you continue to post about a freeper while trying to keep that freeper off your supposedly protected thread — which you only announce as protected DEEP into the thread itself. Your interest is in trolling, not the furtherence of science.

This isn’t a LENR thread, it’s a CHF thread.

Let the mods determine if you’re abusing the discretion of the supposed protection scheme offered on FR.

No objection Bigbob, and I hope that they do. But it is very difficult to sift through all the crap that has been injected into the LENR field by charlatans, hucksters, and true believers.

Good, then the moderators will have no need to kick you off another thread or even get involved. And we will happily continue this discussion without your input.
