My parents both lived under “communism” not socialism, and it wasn’t even very communist. Just your average totalitarian dictatorships... I think most Americans would be very confused as to how decentralized Sweden is for example. In many ways, we are much more of a fascist/socialist state than many of the countries we point fingers at. For one thing, if you’re paying for services via taxation, you would expect great service. That doesn’t happen here. But I will tell you my family living across Northern Europe, from Sweden to Germany have far more benefits that deliver than we do.
