abandoning LA three or four times can't do much to endure your fan base.

If the Dodgers came back to Brooklyn as late as the '70s, they would have had a huge fan base and tears of joy. I went to Mets games during that time, and there were as many Dodger fans as Mets fans several times, and scattered signs "Bring Back Dem Bums". Too much time had passed. Los Angeles just isn't a pro football town.

By the way, neither is Boston. The Patriots never really had a claim on all New England (the hubris). They are really the Boston Patriots. They got a lot of this generation rooting for them in CT and RI, but that will change once they return to Steve Grogan form long-term. Boston is Red Sox, and Celtics, and Bruins, and BC Eagles. Not so much Patriots unless you force it on them.
