Trump may have been able to influence the bank’s own estimates, but it’s up to the bank to determine the value of the collateral being offered.
If Trump overstated actual revenues or profits that would be fraud. But I’m sure any statements he gave banks were audited.
Trump saying, I think this property is worth $100 million, wouldn’t go very far, unless Trump can make a reasonable case that similar properties have sold for comparable prices.
And if Trump can make that case, then it’s not fraud.
