We have a 12” “Major Award” lamp as well. The leg lights up as well!
Oh ffffffudge.
This is guaranteed to suck.
Not really. The original stories by Jean Shepherd appeared individually in Playboy magazine. The book "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash" was a compilation of those Playboy stories. The Flick's bar interludes were created as glue to tie them all together and serve as lead-ins to the next story.
To any fan of the original movie, I recommend that you get a copy of the book and read that (a Kindle version exists). It fleshes out many of the segments of the movie and is much, much better. To me, the movie was disappointing because I was already familiar with the book, and so much was left out to keep the movie family friendly, and a reasonable length.
The stories were written for adults about kids.
Well, they’ll certainly have less “Christ” in Christmas than the original one - about as religious as Rudolf or Jack Frost...
I was thinking that Hunter Biden should get a part in the movie. Maybe not Ralphie.
Dan Patrick interviewed Billingsly a few years ago about the original movie.

Thanks for posting that. There were indeed some surprises. I never would have guessed he was 12 when the movie was made.
“The Old Man” - The role Darrin McGavin was born to play.
The trailers show why both these movies are not fondly remembered nor played on tv.
There was also a “A Christmas Story 2” made in 2012.
