I've had two hip replacements and several colonoscopies.I was put out for all of them. I partially woke up at the end of one of the colonoscopies but there was no pain involved at all.No pain during any of the other procedures either.

IIRC I was given Fentanyl for at least one of those procedures.

One would think that some combination the drugs they gave me would have put my lights out completely in the right dose...with no pain at all.

Midazolam + Fentanyl is exactly what they prescribe for many patients on ventilators. No wonder so may die.

Conclusions: In mechanically ventilated patients, co-sedation with midazolam and fentanyl by constant infusion provides more reliable sedation and is easier to titrate than midazolam alone, without significant difference in the rate of adverse events.
