"I got a dvt after an extended hospital stay. They should always put those puffer bags on your legs after any surgery."

The first time I was in the hospital since I'd given birth to my second son in 1971, was in 2010, for emergency surgery due to a perforated bowel. I was in the hospital for 7 days, and for several days following the surgery, I wasn't allowed to get up. They had a catheter in me for most of that time. I had never seen the inflatable leg wraps up to that time. They also gave me the heparin shots in my abdomen every day.
