They should do a survey of the electric car owners who were snowbound on I-95 in Northern Virginia earlier this week.

I have zero doubt that those in power envision a world of "local drivers" who take trains for long distance travel, and then rent electric vehicles once they are near their destination.

Change purely for self enrichment and the sake of change.

lol...good point.

I wouldn’t get caught dead in a *real* Chrysler, much less their version of a next to useless EV.

Who’s gonna buy double the shitbox?

It’s a bummer if you run down far from a charging station, however. But, you know, progress.

I want one of those shiny Tesla Cybertrucks. Unfortunately my reservation is in the range of 926,000. Hopefully I will live long enough to get it.

I wanted a hybrid, not a full EV.

I get 40 mpg.

IDNKT! Good thing I bought all my Milwaukee M18 power tools when I did!

Nope! My 2013 Challenger R/T will be mine forever. It’s garaged and doesn’t even see rain, nevermind snow. There’s nothing like the roar of a V8 engine.

Trying to force Americans out of their personal vehicles WILL cause a bloody civil war.

Millions of Americans LOVE their vehicles. They customize them and the vehicles are a reflection of their individuality.

Most Americans do NOT see their vehicles as just a way to get somewhere. This is the dangerous flaw in government trying to force people to buy something to drive THEY DO NOT WANT.

The Leftists in government want to force us out of our gasoline and diesel vehicles and into electric vehicles. Then, because it will be impossible for our electric grid to charge millions of electric vehicles overnight, and an increasing prevalence of battery fires which fire departments CANNOT EXTINGUISH, they will announce EV’s are impractical, dangerous and will ban them.

MAKE NO MISTAKE, THEY WANT US OUT OF OUR PERSONAL VEHICLES.

No personal vehicles means no personal freedom.

Depends on the engine. Gasoline engines waste enormous amounts of energy idling. Diesels do much better. Your heat in a gas or diesel vehicle is from the waste heat extraction system.

In an electric car, heat is done via heat pumps and elements. However, they suffer from a charge availability penalty in cold weather. That is, as temperatures drop, charge availability drops from the battery pack, even though you put that charge in during charge phase. That combined with the need to use elements to heat the car when temps drop below heat pump efficiency range, means you can exhaust available charge rapidly.

It is a good case of hydrocarbon power density advantage. But you still have to be a miser on that fuel in the cold. Most people don’t pack for that kind of weather. And if it snows deep, carbon monoxide poisoning can become a real danger.

With gas about to go to $6 a gallon I am firing up one of my old bikes myself. With a bike trailer I can still bring home quite a few supplies.

They want to return us to the stone age. Have for years.

“And if it snows deep, carbon monoxide poisoning can become a real danger.”

I am paranoid about CO poisoning but I hadn’t thought about it in relation to deep snow. I live where that is not likely.

For those that do, better put a shovel in the back of the truck. A long-handled shovel.
