I don’t know if Trump would dismiss the idea out of hand. The day to day operation of the presidency immerses Trump back in the swamp where surviving and trying to keep the country on the tracks takes 95% of his time. I don’t think anything motivates Trump more than payback. As VP or China tsar he would have one duty, payback.
Make it Mike Pompeo, and put him in charge of FBI reform.

A point of trivia. If DeDantis is the VP pick then Trump would have to run from a different state, probably New Jersey since Bedminster is there. That would make him the only man to run for the presidency three different times from three different states.
In a normal situation I would say DeSantis, but with Trump at the helm, this could be a bad move for the Florida governor. Trump’s next term will likely be as tumultuous as his first — much of it Trump’s own making — and it would wreck DeSantis’ chance at being Trump’s successor in ‘28. For a recent example, consider if Pence had tried to run following Trump’s first term (assuming Trump chose not to run). Biden would have won with a wider margin and less need to cheat.

Maybe to avoid the all encompassing chore of fighting the swamp creatures that stabbed him in the back and rode him out of town on a rail the last time. Trump was a babe in the woods when dealing with these Uniparty vipers. Put Trump in a position he and only he is capable doing, taking revenge on the Chinese. Should Trump get elected, the multiple special prosecutors appointed by Garland would ensure a repeat of his last administration. A second Trump administration would be as big a failure as the first.

As I’ve discussed with a few of you outside of FR: I’m not so sure The Don will run again. If he doesn’t, DeSantis is the choice. And he will learn from the mistakes The Don made.
