Friends of ours are farmers and one night they let their dog out (can’t remember the breed but bigger then a German Shepherd). He heard yipping and looked out and there were 3-4 coyotes surrounding the dog. Luckily he had a shotgun near and killed a couple of them.

**You have no idea how BIG a Golden Eagle is***

I remember seeing them in 1959, hung on a fence by sheep ranchers, next to the dead coyotes, and a mountain lion. They hated such predators.

We used to pull out the feathers to fletch our arrows.

I mentioned this on FB a few years back and someone really got bent out of shape over it. yelling cursing me. I just let them spew.
I later got thrown off when some bleeding heart wanted someone to relocate a wasp next. I said “You don’t relocate wasps! You KILL THEM!” Boom, I was gone.

You’re right about the location Cal and 10th. I lived in SF from ‘69 to ‘72. Beautiful city back then. Sourdough bread and seafood from Alioto’s on the docks. North Beach and drinks at Spec’s 12 Adler.

The coyotes around here, suburban Chicago in DuPage County, have completely lost their fear of mankind. We saw a large one trotting down a residential street at 3 in the afternoon the other day.

He didn’t have a care in the world.

I thought coyotes made so much money smuggling illegals across the border that they could afford go to order out. These just be welfare coyotes who vote for democrats.

A couple years ago just before Christmas, I was driving home around 11:00 PM, and I saw a coyote crossing the street - and he was using the crosswalk.

The coyotes in southern Ohio are pretty huge.

A neighbor was out in the middle of the night with their German Shepherd and he said he heard his dog growl like he’d never heard before. He turned around and his GSD and 3 big coyotes were face to face staring and growling at each other. He said he didn’t dare call to his dog because he knew if his dog looked at him the three coyotes would attack the dog. Finally, one by one, the coyotes left.

Sure made me a little more nervous walking around the neighborhood at night with my two 35-pound dogs! But I did feel safer knowing that I carried my gun and I had a small stun gun that worked more than once on an approaching aggressive dog (just the sound scared them off).

Two parts of the report are noteworthy:

“One litter of seven coyote pups was spotted at the Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park last May, and two popular trails in the Presidio temporarily prohibited dogs during “pupping season” — which occurs from April through fall — because some of the coyotes’ den sites were in the golf course. “

And why they are permitted to have dens in the golf course?

“Though it’s difficult to track each individual animal, Campbell estimates fewer than 100 coyotes are living in San Francisco, where they began building dens in the early 2000s after police officers ceased the practice of killing the animals that crossed the Golden Gate Bridge into the city.”

It seems S.F.’s be kind to criminals programs followed its be kind to Coyotes program.

“Y” and “W” are vowels.

Not on “Wheel of Fortune”, which is why I worded it that way.

The boyfriend’s house is 10th and California. The woman unleashed her dog a half a block from that house and the attack occurred soon after that; so the coyotes must live in The Presidio because this particular location is pretty far from both Land’s End and Golden Gate Park. Thoughts?

I lived in SF decades ago. Coyotes were there in the city and liked to go into stores to sleep at night because they were cold. You never know where a coyote will turn up Keep pets inside and on leashes outside.

Gun companies used to make a small revolver just to shoot dogs or coyotes chasing bicyclists. The Velodog.

Quite a few gun manufacturers used to make .32 caliber "Bicycle Guns" back in the 1890s and early 1900s.

California/10th isn’t exactly in the woods which means the coyotes would have been roaming through city streets.

I’ve seen one standing on the corner of Market and Fremont. It took off down Front street when I yelled at it. Roughly midnight, fall 1999. A few years later I realized the dogs I would see late at night near the CalTrain station were just not dogs, heheh...

My sister and brother in law live in a rural area outside of Seattle with space to the extent that my brother in law installed speakers in the building where he keeps his toys and tinkers around. One night they heard coyotes - not surprising since bears pass through there. So my brother in law found a recording of wolves howling and played it loudly! They haven’t heard the coyotes since.

Haha, what’s great is watching them obey traffic signals and stop signs. No joke, I’ve seen this. Obviously an evolved coyote.
