You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and they won't take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they're both faggots and they won't take either of them. And if three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in singin' a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. They may think it's an organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said fifty people a day walking in singin' a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement!
(Stolen from Arlo Guthrie's epic saga "Alice's Restaurant".....I couldn't resist) 🙃
Amtrak was first called RailPak but they thought it was too embarrassing.
Just before they took over, Johnny Carson said: "Police reported that last night someone broke a basement window of the headquarters of the Pennsylvania Railroad. They got into the offices and stole $11 million in debts."
Funny.
Someone I know went to an Arlo Guthrie concert outdoors (maybe 2018). She said he and all the hundreds around on the hills listening looked exactly the same as the 60s except now all of them had gray or white hair-—still long.
I view the creation of Amtrak as the first of three attempts in about a decade to save the Rail Roads. It was removing one of the most obvious liabilities from the railroads.
Effective reform does happen until the Staggers Act in 1979.
My problem with train travel is the masking required today, and the fact that you can’t carry (firearm) on board. I know it’s the same with plane travel, but for some reason, being on the ground, I shouldn’t be separated from my Second Amendment Right.
