"no skid marks and I did miss hitting the deer."
Beer goggles makes everything look better.
We had a CWD outbreak in Montmorency County in Michigan years ago.
It's only a matter of time; unless we put up very high walls on the borders.
Old article but gives the issue scale. My wife grew up eating deer. She won’t touch it again. Signs in the state reminding people it’s illegal to bring an entire animal into the state.

Whitetails cursed with incurable, pernicious, protein prion disease...
...so go flood your bod with toxic proteins!
what could possibly go wrong?
In my part of Alabama (Eastern Elmore county) I’ve noticed a few less deer on my property this year.
I have people who hunt my land and they give me a quarter of all harvested. I told them not to bother this year; they’re just not in big numbers like before. Just a few small does.
The past several years they were always getting some, and I had plenty of meat.
I hope it is because they were hunted out—not that they’re dying (the deer, not the hunters!).
There has to be a little bit of a challenge. Can I rope them or throw a spear at them?
LMAO!
I think you could literally take a rope, place it over the antler, and walk one home. Ten others would probably follow. They are very domesticated being that they live in the area and no longer fear man.
CWD has infected Mule Deer and Elk herds in Colorado for decades, which is why i quit eating wild game a long time ago ...
Our backyard Bambis look healthy enough. We see them grazing a couple of evenings a week.
