I’m an Alabama fan (married an Alabama man 🙂) but I root for GA when they aren’t playing Alabama.
Having said that, I don’t think Bama will beat Georgia the way they have been playing. They seem young and don’t get all their elements working at the same time - sometimes good offensive line, bad defense, last night was the opposite. Just my .02.
Yes,and being coached by a former OSU player.
Should be an interesting rest of the season.
Agreed. 👍
Then things get REAL messy for the CFP.
Bias
You want Bias look at Gods Team and Michigan
Sportswriters and sportscasters drink them up and always have
Musberger was so fawning over The Irish
It’s not bias for the SEC....in fact there was once hardcore northern bias against southern teams and now even if they are rather black teams some of that still exists
Problem with SEC.....not bias....they are the Borg
Or the gorilla on the room
They just consume so much and tv audience time too
Now I understand being in Tallahassee this sucks and all
But I do t think anything is stopping you guys
You chose the ACC for a reason....
I would like to see Cincinnati get in just to see how they perform. Wish they had a better schedule to evaluate them. I’m a Bama fan but don’t see them beating the Dawgs. Bama is not as good this year as in past years but the find ways to win. Not pretty not overpowering. I doubt Cincinnati could go 1 loss with the SEC schedule. Injuries just pile up.
Ohio St vs Michigan was an interesting game. Same with Ok vs OK state.
I don’t see any of them getting past the Dawgs but that’s why they play the games because on any given day, you never know.
Agree. That’s how I have it as well if all 4 win. Michigan, Cincinnati control their own fates - they win their in the playoffs. Georgia is in the playoffs regardless if they win or lose to Alabama. They’d drop from the top spot but are in regardless.
Oklahoma State needs to win and then either Alabama or Michigan needs to lose for them to get in. I’m sure Georgia will not look past Bama and look forward to driving a stake in the heart to Bama’s playoff chances!
If Alabama loses plus either OSU or Michigan stumbles then Notre Dame likely gets the last playoff spot.
I doubt Alabama will beat Georgia, but if they do, they belong in the playoffs.
Agreed that Georgia is in, unless in a loss to Alabama, they also lose some key players to injuries. That could weigh on the selection committee’s assessment.
Agree it’s doubtful Georgia will lose to Alabama but if they do Bama would deserve to be in the playoffs and May well get the top spot ahead of Georgia if they beat Georgia decisively. Georgia would really have to get hard hit with key injuries to not make the playoff should they lose.
Here’s what I mean about SEC bias. SEC teams are so consistently highly rated whether deserved or not, that losses mean very little and close wins mean that much more. A&M is a perfect example. They’ll finish the season barely in the top 25. They won’t fall out even with four losses after losing to a couple of unranked teams, because to do that would weaken Alabama’s claim to the top 4.
In 2013, when FSU was beating ranked teams by 30 and Bama was ekeing out 3 point victories over unranked teams, the constant drumbeat was Bama’s #1 and they must remain #1 until they lose. One year later, the roles were reversed and all of a sudden terms like “eye test” “game control” and “quality loss” became part of the lexicon and FSU was dropped to #4, despite remaining undefeated and being the reigning National Champion.
I’ve been an advocate for FSU joining the SEC for decades. A road game at Auburn is alot easier than schlepping to Boston, Pittsburgh or Syracuse every other year.
And soon they are going to assimilate Oklahoma and Texas!
...the 2-loss (New Years 6) bowl game(s) might actually have more entertainment value than the CFP(Georgia/Cincy/ND/OKState)...particularly if Georgia is as good as everyone seems to think they are.
Think of the potential match-ups(re-matches?)among all the 2-loss teams?
We may end up having 4 teams that have not been perennials this year. Either way, as you say it should be interesting. :)
