And if you were kept in solitary for nearly a year in a festering DC jail with no chance for a bond, you'd plead guilty to anything.
That’s fair.
I read your profile some time ago and it doesn’t look like it has changed.
I will confess that I’m a bit younger. (I couldn’t even vote until the W. times, to give you a rough idea.) Won’t go into details, but felt betrayed by the Iraq lie. Have a strong distrust of anything to do with “the establishment” as a result. I’m also married to another man, so there is that factor when talking about more traditional Republican politics. At the same time, I’m conservative in almost all respects, and I love the good parts of the USA.
In my view, Trump was the best of the possible options, both in 2016 and 2020, but I was never an unquestioning fan due to his ego and lack of basic knowledge, which negatively impacted so many of his choices. What this country really needs is someone who wants to radically shake things up (“drain the swamp”), but is also competent enough to accomplish good things and to know what doesn’t need tinkering with. Finding an outsider with the ability to makeover the insiders is pretty difficult, so that may never happen in this country in my lifetime.
It’s pretty sad that the current state of things is mostly neo-Marxists vs. greedy establishment vs. Q-nuts. Hopefully some good returns soon, but I’m a pessimist. Take care.
