When I was teaching English 101 at a Texas University around 2000-2002 I had a department head who believed that we should allow students to use Ebonics vernacular English to give Black students equal grading.. No such leeway was given to Hispanic students or for that matter any students for whom English was a second language.
I just followed orders and gave them “A” since I had no frame of reference to determine if the student was using the proper syntax, spelling and grammar of the Ebonics vernacular. I suppose this was affirmative action in action.

The problem arises when “students” search for jobs with the same credentials - on paper only - as real workers.
Many racial discrimination lawsuits arise because fake token employees aren’t promoted or are let go - they simply can’t do the work, and in good times companies keep them on the payroll for legal purposes. When times get lean, the fake workers are gone - and they lawyer up because on paper they are the same as real workers...
Anyone lowering standards like this believes in his/her heart of hearts that certain races are inferior - there is no doubt about that.
They (liberals, that is) would never admit to this. But they would readily admit that blacks and other POC need their “assistance” or them as “allies” to exercise their “agency.”
Of course, there is blowback for this attitude: they are accused of having “benevolent white savior” complex.
Oh, the ingratitude of the downtrodden!
