2021 Apple iMac (24-inch, Apple M1 chip with 8‑core CPU and 8‑core GPU, 8GB RAM, 512GB) - Blue At Amazon $1700 — https://tinyurl.com/rvmmzrbb This one gets some negative reviews that are worth reading. That make interesting reading, such as incompatibly with favorite Apple programs. Dead machines too (lol)
Dell FHD 15.6” -— $323 yesterday -—today $342 https://tinyurl.com/3tv2xww5 with 11th Gen i3 and 8gb ram
With the new screening and prescreening of all content for anything Apple and the government want to review, including your backups, iMessages, photos, and notepads, my family has stopped all our Apple purchases.
The new requirements went in a month ago even for people on the older OS, retroactively.
We will wait for a good degoogled phone and are switching to Signal over iMessage and are pulling all content off iCloud.
You wanted a cheap PC and you got one. No one not desperate would buy a Mac from Amazon - from where many used, broken, and damaged ‘new’ items are shipped.
Go to an Apple store for what they offer. Not Amazon!
Viewing this on iPad Pro M1 11”. What can I say. As I was telling a friend this is the best computing device I have ever owned, laptops and desktop pc’s included. The thing is blazing fast. My chief complaint in the past used to be jittery video rendering, especially 4K . This is butter smooth. With the companion keyboard it has effectively replaced my (non work) laptop.
No kidding. No telling what you get from Amazon. Go to the source if you can.
Had to install a new java vm to get some nonsense program to run...
I have an M1 MacBook Pro and an M1 Mac Mini, both with 16 GB. I use both in a very serious manner as a software engineer. They are excellent machines, with the caveat that some (usually much older) apps will not run (most Intel-based apps run just fine), and you will not be able to virtualize Windows in the traditional manner. Battery life on the MacBook Pro is astounding.
So much for the super-privacy that was an Apple selling point. Looks like Apple has gone to the dark side, aka the deep state and the Dems. Not to mention all their obsequious to the CCP. The CCP cannot wait to control worldwide chip flows. This is why they are rattling Taiwan. To reach TSMC and make TSMC bend to their will. Putin plays a smart game w Europe as far as supplying natural gas. While America is ruled by traitorous buffoons and incompetents.
Xi and Vlad are nationalists, while all we get are sellouts.

Your screen can’t display 4k!
A few of the unhappy M1/24" iMac Amazon commentators were glad they bought via Amazon. Due to the no-hassle return policy. I find it hard to believe that Apple sends its "B grade" machines to Amazon. To in effect dump them there.
I can only comment on the Macbook Air M1. I bought mine just before Christmas, 2020.
It is amazingly fast, light, and the battery life is simply OUTSTANDING. I had a Dell for work, and that thing was a POS. I used my Mac for everything I could. I paid $899 education pricing. I plan on having it for many years.
Best part, no fans. The thing never even gets warm.
Also, check Apples REfurb store. They warranty refurbs the same as new. you can usually save a couple of hundred dollars.
Did you buy a mouse keyboard combo for this? I would go crazy going all touch screen. I need an external keyboard and mouse for this kind of computer, for any large tablet. Plaything android tablets that you use on your couch are another matter. Your new M1 tablet might be faster than 90% of laptops that are sold in America. I see it is $799.99 at Best Buy. If I had a spare $800 lying around I would get one, or the larger size if there is one :)
“Your screen can’t display 4k!”
True, but even at its native res which is similar to qhd (2560x1440) the rendering is flawless. None of my previous mobile devices were this good. And besides, with a simple usb -c cable you can add a true 4k desktop monitor to the ipad.

I concur. Bought a macBook Air M1 this past Spring. Battery life is long enough I basically can forget about plugging in to charge for several days worth of use (off and on during the day). As you mention, the thing runs stone cold. Actually a tiny downside in the Winter months where my old MacBook could double as a leg warmer. ;-)
I bought the keyboard, but not mouse. The keyboard has a built in touchpad so I haven’t felt the need for a mouse, but may add one if I do.
That device has a Thunderbolt 4 connector. With that, you can display on most 4k screens now on the market. (Thunderbolt 3 or 4 will accept USB-c cables, and will talk USB-c to whatever device is on the other side.)
I had a 2nd gen iPad Pro, I liked it quite well. Had the 13”, decided it was too big for me.
I now have a current iPad Air with Magic Keyboard, and it is GREAT for my mobile computing needs. I still need a Windows PC for some things, I have an old laptop hooked up to a 4k 32” LG monitor for that. Love the big monitor, highly recommended. And I really don’t get that people are still buying 1920x1028 monitors. 4k is where it’s at.
