He was in 2014’s Interstellar, which I still haven't seen! A friend told me it's the greatest sci-fi film ever made.

Add to the ever increasing list “A Bridge Too Far” (1977) and the Cold War spy thriller “The Fourth Protocol.”

I like his "Harry Palmer" spy movies. Wish I could find them somewhere. The Ipcress File and Funeral in Berlin are available via the Netflix DVD service. Yeah. I know. I'll say this, I've found more excellent movies there than I ever thought possible.

Eastwood is also in that range and/or older. Hanks and Aaron Eckhart were amazed at how Eastwood ruled the set of Sully even at that age.

There was one Flashman flick made, Royal Flash (basically The Prisoner fo Zenda), with Malcom McDowell as Flash. It didn't do well so there was never another made.

He’s had a most excellent run.
Good for him, for writing books, now.
I wish him all the best.

Malcolm wasn’t made for the role. I don’t know of any Brit actor rakish enough to pull it off nowadays. They’d probably cast a black lesbian because, of course.

I’m surprised no one’s yet mentioned him with Ben Kingsley in Without A Clue.
Hilarious Sherlock Holmes spoof.

Agree on Secondhand Lions. I saw it on a lark after someone in my group at work mentioned that some of her horses were used in the film. Ended up liking it so much I bought the DVD.

He has given us a life long record of good movie performances that we can continue to savor via watching them again and again. Mr. Caine, I wish you an enjoyable retirement, you have earned it.

He hasn’t died yet, just retired from acting; thus your RIP is a bit early. Unless, of course, you meant it as “Retire in Pleasure” (Or in Perth, if he moves to Australia)
