“We’re already living in 1984, now they want to spy on us using flying microchips?”

The way things are going, we are going to wake up one day and there will be thousands of those canine looking police robots on the streets, police drones in the air, and all sorts of police state high tech in control.
There won’t be a public debate about it beforehand, it will not have been in the news, they will just be everywhere, all at once, no discussion, cause “national security” and STFU about it.
They will say it’s just about 5,000 nationwide and it’s temporary, you may see one near you, but it will actually be 50,000 and then 500,000 and they will be permanent.

IOW, just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

I wonder if big strips of fly paper would cull any getting too close to home. Or a big magnet. My Toro vac is pretty good at taking care of those maple helicopters...

People just love the idea of advancing technology. Especially digital Tech. Yet in the end it will be our end.

Covered extensively in “Transmetropolitan”.
Also, I wonder how these things would handle the field generated by a modest 3-5 foot tall Tesla coil?

I had been hoping for a sequel, but it doesn’t look like that’s in the cards.
