There is a joke about firefighters and police responding to to serious car accidents and handing a piece of gauze to an old lady or old man and telling them to put some pressure on a serious wound to stop it from bleeding... while the entire group fawns over some young pretty woman who is crying but has no apparent injuries. Unfortunately, I can tell you that this actually happens all the time.
