I know this story very well.
I had a stroke at 55.
The exam showed I had previously had over a dozen small strokes and the CAT scan showed “popcorn”...dead tissue in my brain.
My right carotid was totally occluded and the left was 85% occluded.
They did a vascular surgery on the left and the right remains totally blocked. The vascular system in the brain is 100% redundant so I have good blood flow. Plus there are two smaller arteries in the back of the neck that also provide blood flow.
The biggest risk is small pieces of gunk breaking off and blocking smaller arteries inside the brain. It will kill or cripple you.
You MUST get the roto rooter.
Nocturnal inoculation!
๐๐๐. Yeah they did and I have my copies. Left side showed BIG changes but the right appears to have similar numbers to the previous checks.
We did. #12 bottle brush. ๐ท๐
What a story! I will have to talk to my doctor about this!
The Good Lordโs been watching over you!
Youโre gonna be around a good long time!
I’m glad it was caught in time and had it taken care of. Prayers for a full recovery.
My daughter had to have a carotid bypass over a year ago. She had a bunch of congenital problems going on that almost killed her. Her aorta goes to the right, her carotid artery was messed up and she had vessels that had grown tightly around her esophagus. It was frightening.
Good news.
I had 5 stents placed in July 2018, and am doing fine, on Entresto, Carvedilol, Pacerone and another one I can’t remember. The docs called it a “full metal jacket”. LOL.

I’m glad that you have a competent physician at the VA.
You’re LUCKY.
That stated, people reading this should realize that this is a vindication of my & others’ righteous critique of the lipid hypothesis.
The lipid hypothesis should now be officially destroyed. However, there will be those - just like the vaxxers - who are emotionally wrapped into a state of disease, no different than cultists.
Free advice: If you’re on statin medications (my word is POISONS) and comfortable about your health because your doctor tells you so, 2 things await you:
1. Enlightenment,
2. Pearly gates.
Which one comes first depends upon a personal choice to investigate further and, if this ‘virus crisis’ bears any evidence whatsoever, presume that your doctor may not know what he/she is talking about, having been bought/paid-for by big pharma on this and many other health matters which portend profits on the back end of their recommendations.
Consult a naturopath immediately and balance true health information with that provided by a person with letters after their name, signifying that they are under the thumb of the AMA, big pharma and, most importantly, the government.
It’s “the Conservative thing to do.”
In recent years, every medical test I have had ( except for blood work) has been for lungs, heart, and and digestive system- between my shoulders and my butt. I am certainly going to bring this up with my PCP. Thanks for posting about your experience, this is something I never wouldโve thought of, even though my Mother and my Father in Law both had massive strokes mom in 1980, and dad in law in 1986. Continued Good Health to you and all other FReepers!
In the daily mix already. Thanks.
Apparently not since it was a non-secreting pituitary adenoma that required surgery.
Very low carb keto or carnivore diet is said to heal the lining of the arteries.
I’ve been carnivore for three years and my blood pressure is lower, weight went from 235 to 180. Would like to get a carotid scan to see how it’s doing.
I get mailers from time to time from HeartScan. Wife and I had it done many years ago. I wonder if my results are still on file for comparison.
I had a chest x-ray about five years ago that showed a calcified aortic arch. I started taking K1, K2 and D3 last year.
Had the CAC scan it shows a score of 6 for calcium deposits but it doesn’t show soft plaques.

I had a spontaneous left carotid artery dissection in 2004 at age 50. Inexplicably the inner layer of tissue in my carotid artery had torn, causing the blood to back up like a dam in my artery. My only symptoms were a severe headache 1 week prior and pulsatile tinnitus, which means I could hear my pulse loudly in my left ear, so much that I couldnโt even sleep.
After getting a CT scan and an MRI, I was sent to Barrow Neurologic Institute for evaluation and treatment where I underwent more testing. I had no symptoms of a stroke such as Hornerโs syndrome or speech problems. The doctors were amazed and mystified as to why I looked so good. I was discharged after 1 day with a prescription for Plavix for 6 months, and I had no sequelae after that.
On further research I found that spontaneous dissection can be caused by car accidents, sports injuries, and viruses. Oddly enough I had a really strange virus/cold 2 weeks prior that knocked me on my ass for 4 days. I discussed this fact with my doctor on a follow up visit and he agreed that it pry played a large part in weakening the arterial wall of my carotid artery. Just an FYI.
Thanks. Glad you’re good.
