He was a flawed man just like any of the rest of us, and the history being written about his generalship in WWII isn't always kind in hindsight. But on that day he was prepared to take all the blame upon himself, with finality.

Other than Trump, he was the best president in my lifetime. Reagan rounds out the top three.

That might very well be true, but he made some excellent points. Our twenty year involvement was tragic, but it did keep terrorism minimized from what it would have been. Now the Taliban and Al Queda will renew their terror efforts and we will see them again, most likely coming across from Mexico.
