From an old Mad Magazine Batman satire:
Robin( while looking into computer screen in Batcave): Holy leaping lizards!
Batman: What is it Robin? Did you discover the Joker’s secret hideout?
Robin: No! The dressing room of Jill St. John. Holy 36-24-36!

to the left it is reality. In their reality no one is normal. To the left, there's no such thing as normal. They have no standards whatsoever.

Comic book culture was always sort of disposable and not meant to be taken seriously. Take it seriously and you’re bound to get burned.

The article states the original creators and a ton of Batman writers have all denied the gayness of Batman and Robin. But then Grant Morrison comes along and says though Batman and Robin aren’t gay, the “concept is very gay,” because he’s an edgy leftist.

I used to live and work in Houston in the late 80s an early 90s. There is a gay part of town called the Montrose, and a gay theater listed movies in the newspaper in the section with all the other theaters.
One time they had a movie called Batdude and Throbin.

Because the vast majority of modern comics are terrible.
Written for a very narrow audience and disdainful of their history.
The only recent series I really liked were The Amazing Spider-man: Renew Your Vows and Spidergirl both of which were throwbacks involving two different versions of Spiderman's daughters, and Spidergirls in which Mayday and Annie (those two daughters) got to meet each other. Nothing like meeting your sister from another universe (who died as an infant in your universe) to make your day.
Annie Parker on the left and big sister Mayday on the right:

When I was a kid, we never thought about TV characters’ sexuality. They were married or not. Batman showed some interest in Cat Woman.

What concept is gay? An adult male adopting a teenage male?

I guess that is gay since the gays adopt young boys for predatory purposes lol. But in context, this was a father-son relationship. Still us, though the new comics constantly give the Robins daddy issues.
