Sounds like most of the money goes to the tenants and not directly to the landlord. What could possibly go wrong? /S

You need to buy your Yeezy sneakers and FUBU clothing before you pay your rent.
Oh, and your weed and malt liquor.

Does, “I drank the rent.”, count? To the commies we have in charge, now, it does.

The mole in this whack-a-mole game is the taxpayer.

rent grants...another socialist toilet down which the criminal enterprise that is the team of SloJo and the Ho will flush billions of taxpayer dollars.

Apparently, the American People haven’t had enough of this crap, yet.

Wealth distribution (to buy votes) and get to screw landlords, a win-win for the left.

What the article fails to point out is that the moratorium only applied to evictions, and wasn’t rent abatement, which many treated as such. When the moratorium was announced, a lot of renters took that as suspending the need to pay rent. Now all of the unpaid rent from the moratorium period is due, and they can’t pay it. The landlords are desperate because of the loss in revenue, and now must raise rents to recapture the loss, and the renters want the back rent to be forgiven by judicial fiat. What has been accomplished is the total elimination of low cost housing. There’s less of it and what’s left is much more expensive. Another compassionate gesture from the government that has been a complete disaster.

I think we in for a complete economic collapse. We will have many homeless just from this eviction freeze ending. Then with employers mandating vaccines, I think s lot of people will lose their jobs.

Compensation claims could be processed by eviction courts.

A landlord would file an eviction claim, including a copy of the rental agreement, a statement of sums owed, a statement of the taxpayer ID(s) of the tenant(s), if known, a statement of landlord’s taxpayer ID and the owner’s taxpayer ID if they are not the same person(s), and if the landlord was not the current owner of the property, a notarized statement by the owner that the landlord is entitled to collect said rent.

The court clerk would file a lien on the property to cut down on fraud, a back rent lien filing notice mailed to the property tax notice address of the property and about 30 days later a check cut to the landlord by the court clerk from the eviction protection federal funds. The court clerk would file a 1099 with the IRS in the tenant(s) name(s), apportioned equally as possible to each if more than one.

The courts would allow liens to be cleared after six months insomuch as the courts have time to do so.

Such a scheme stinks in terms of equity(fairness and justice), but it is a means of cleaning up the mess made by the unconstitutional CDC moratorium issued by the Trump administration.

Federal law could provide federal tax credits to the tenant would be garnished to collect the tenant eviction prevention payouts in the manner PPACA penalties would have.

Yup. Drive those evil landlords to the wall, and nationalize their properties.

The State becomes the landlord, thus gaining coercive control over the tenants.

Any questions?

“about 30 million change-of-address requests to the U.S. Postal Service in 2020”

NY Times via google

People were moving by the millions but the Trump CDC would not let even one deadbeat tenant get evicted.

The rental properties are being snapped up off desperate ‘mom & pop’ landlords by investment firms.

Look for the public offerings of shares soon.

It’ll be months hs before evictions get into full swing, and millions will either come up with the dough or fiND other arrangements before the sherif arrives.

And people will decide they need to get off their butts and go to work.

If the government hadn’t started all this scamdemic hysteria there wouldn’t be a problem. But as far as they’re concerned, things are going swimmingly.

The local commie TV is ranting about how people could lose their homes.

Land owners have been forced to provide housing to people who don’t pay. This is wrong, illegal and unconstitutional.

The government does not have the right to invalidate the terms of a valid legal contract.

Finally, some people think that it’s the government’s role to provide aid to renters. NO, that’s not the government’s role.

Landlords could have been allowed to garnish unemployment payments.

Our governments are crooked, or stupid, or both.

“millions will either come up with the dough or fiND other arrangements before the sherif arrives.”

It’s 8:35 in the morning, dream over, time to wake up to modern reality in the USA.

Low-income renters rarely have a substantial financial reserve.

Here in Western Washington state, we have noticed a large number of OLD campers and motor homes parked in highway rest areas or on rural gravel turnouts. These are NOT families on a holiday. These are people who have no other place to live. We will see more and more of these nomads who will migrate with the changes in seasons.
