Dog is man’s best & most loyal friend. Nothing else is even close.

My dog would be my best friend if he’d drive me to the airport.....

More than half (17 out of 31) dog puppies consistently went to the right bowl while none out of the 26 human-reared wolf pups did better than a random guess.

A random guess between 2 options would produce an expected result of either 15 or 16 out of 31. So getting a result of 17 is not my definition of "consistent". But, then again, I am not a subsidized researcher.

Much the same way, a random guess between 2 options would mean about 13 of 26. So if the result was 12 or 14, that's more of a close but not perfect random.

My cocker spaniel, who died two years ago at age 17, went deaf at an early age and was very adept at reading hand signals.

Dogs have masters.
Cats have staff.

I’m a old man I run a pack of treedogs about 10 months a year, we shut down for heat. Often I’ll lay down and take a nap while the dogs are running free. I’ll wake up with one dog laid down in my front other one laid down on my back. In my life time, I’ll have spent twice the time with my dogs, than any human being. I had a GREAT TIME with this wonderful animal, a true gift

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

I think that dogs, intellectually, are like perpetual three-year-old children. They know what you're saying to them, and they communicate back to you like a three-year-old child would. You can't always make out the words they say, but you know what they mean.

In fact, like all mammals, they get wiser as they get older. A 10 year old dog will be more like a four-year old. They know what you're saying but they play dumb. Their vocabulary has gotten bigger and they become more expressive, even to the point of throwing a temper tantrum if you don't give them what they want (usually in the food department).

However, the dog will respond to belly rubs in ways that the three- to four-year olds won't.

Dogs are wild animals.

Nature has instilled in their genes the ability to hunt their prey and fend for themselves at the dinner table around here.. chicken, steak, hot dogs, you name it..

Take it from someone who has been held captive by two poodles for over a dozen years. I think they keep their ‘hosts’ around so someone can do the cooking.

just as pig breeds will revert back to their wild heritage in a couple generations, so will dogs.

I love all my dogs, but I got one now I think I love even more. It’s weird how much we humans love our best friends.

And yet many dogs have yet to master the mysteries of their own farts. My theory is that they are threatened by a strange invisible dog behind them who has obviously been stealing their food.

I will never understand people who don’t like dogs and cats. I love the critters and they love me right back!
