What to take? If it is my ex, she'd take everything in her closet. She took 3 suitcases on a weekend camping trip to a naturist resort 🤓.
Mrs Deplorable would take about 5 pieces of clothing, but she'd make sure there was a laundromat.

“Two overarching questions confront would-be human spacefarers: where to go and how to get there.”
I can think of two others. Why do you want to go? How soon do you want to get there? If we’re not in a hurry, but we’re determined to do this, we could create a highway of habitats making a beeline to Alpha Centauri, say. The problems that Davies struggles with could be worked out by trial and error along the way. If they discovered they forgot something in one of them, it wouldn’t be impractical to fetch it from the one before it.

Just remember to take a better selection of music than 80’s disco. Just ask the Mars’ smartest biologist.

Hmmm...
Fire off about a case of ammo with that thing out the back window should get the craft to about 1/3 light speed...

Lots of good points there.
I’ll add that an alcohol-based economy- providing food for humans and animals and fuel for export is more likely than a an H3 economy.

Women just could not go without their make up. They all had it with them in Star Trek.

The H³ mining is past conception stage. The moon is going to start getting busy.
On the way I understand it is the moon is going to be critical and the push toward Mars.
It’s pretty interesting, sounds a bit Pie in the Sky and I just don’t see sustainment unless they go to the tunnels and maybe eventually they will do that on Mars too and we can all watch Total Recall in real life.
