Actually, with vaccination, the typical default stance from pretty much anywhere in the medical community is going to be “better safe than sorry”.

I prefer my doctors "err on the side of caution", myself, since we're throwing out cliches, in lieu of thought.

For the most part it is voluntary. I have heard of one of two places that require it. I expect most health care employers will require it, such is the nature of the job. Right now if you want to travel internationally some countries require it. For the vast majority of americans it is entirely voluntary. For the rest of us it is voluntary if you want to give up your job. It’s been that way a long time with several vaccines.

It’s a potentially interesting article but so full of anti-Trump attack statements without specifics that I just cannot keep reading it.

We definitely should have done testing and studies on the asymptomatic people from the diamond princess as well as the military people returning from the military sports games in Wuhan. These were two unique groups tied to Covid-19 early on and could have provided a lot of information. Many, if not most, of the people involved would have given informed consent. Instead we just missed that opportunity. I don’t think Trump can be blamed for that.

Yeah, guess I’ve gotten to the point that I just disregard the meda’s “narrative” that “Orange Man Bad!’.

the key quote from that article: “CDC scientists infamously botched the creation of a test for the coronavirus and took weeks trying to fix it, making widespread testing - well beyond those with symptoms - impossible during the pandemic’s first months.”

And that article used to say that the FDA prevented state testing of covid victims.
Gone now though, maybe I saw that elsewhere- but I don’t think so.
