How is the Seal population in Main these days? Hopefully the decades of legal protection are working out for everyone.

Bull sharks love fresh water and small lakes.
Excellent read. One’s heart aches but it is clear this was a natural response to the legislation. If these beacon things are only 15-20k one would think the locals could pony up pretty easily. If you have a home on the Maine coast and one in FLA, $20k is pocket change. Not perfect but a small price to pay.
Eventually the public will realize the untagged sharks greatly outnumber the acoustically tagged sharks, and the public when they see the high number of recorded pings will start to worry about the many more untagged sharks that were near those buoys but can't ping them. - Tom
Bob.
Fletcher Cove?
An old boss used to say, you enter the ocean, you become part of the food chain.
The same applies to fresh water in Florida, lower GA, AL, MS, and LA.
It also applies outside of water in Chicago.
I’m surprised BLM is not calling out Great Whites for preferring the taste of white people 10 to 1 over blacks. The real problem is trying to get white people from tasting soooo delicious!
My dad died very suddenly from a heart attack.
I did CPR on him until the rescue squad arrived.
For weeks afterward, every time I closed my eyes to try to go to sleep, that same thing would happen. It would replay in perfect detail over and over until 8 finally fell asleep. I dreaded going to bed at that time.
Yup, keeping busy was the only way to avoid the instant replays.
I’ve been diving for more than 30-years and during that time, I’ve shared the water with sharks probably 100x, at least, including white sharks a few times. While the enormity of a white shark (particularly a mature female) will take your breath away, the only sharks I’ve encountered that were both bold and aggressive have been bull sharks. They are simply mean AF. I always give them a very, very wide berth.
You know. The looping video clip.
It’s crazy. In a very short time, I looked at people who had something traumatic happen to them in quite a different light.
It wasn’t that I never had anything traumatic happened to me, there was just some thing… Different about that.
What is really striking to me what is the absolute and complete Fidelity inside my brain with what my eyes saw, or what my eyes think they saw. But it was crystal clear, super ultra slow motion.
It was interesting that months later, maybe six, I wasn’t really having those video clips playing like that anymore. It was as if it was fading, which I guess it was. But I was watching TV, and there was a TV series about the lawyer from the seriies “Breaking bad“, I can’t remember what the name of it was.
But I was chilled out, kind of relaxed watching the opening scene in which the character is in the car driving through suburban neighborhood. The camera angle showed what he would say driving the car, I think you saw the right rear quarter of his head or something like that.
So he’s driving along, and all of a sudden… Wham!! He hit a guy on a bicycle. Here’s the thing… I wasn’t really focused on what was going on, but as soon as the sound of that bike hitting the car happened, it completely rattled me.
I involuntarily cursed loud, fumbled frantically for the remote, to turn the TV off. I guess that experience doesn’t live far below the surface.
