I've stayed near there quite a few times over the last 15 years on work trips and it has attracted a lot of derelicts. It's gotten worse over the years. You can't walk down the boardwalk at Venice Beach without being overwhelmed with marijuana smoke. It's some of the priciest real estate in the country and it's overrun with drug addicts.
That fact alone makes it perfect for Hunter. He probably doesn't even need to go half a block from his front door to get his weekly stash.
