The ones I have seen are made of card stock and the vaccine lot labels are sticky tape.
People are told “this is your card. This is the only record we currently have that you have had the vaccine. Do not lose your card bring it back for your second round. “
A small fraction of people show up with the card the second time because it was laying by their seat where they sat for 15 minutes and got trashed when they left.

Before making a fake card, I suppose it would be good to take a look at a real one. But I would never make a fake one, because that would be wrong.

Technically, there is. The lot number of your shot is on the card. That is recorded with your information, so that if a lot later has issues, each recipient can be tracked down. I would imagine that at some point this data will be used to verify people that are claiming to have the vaccine.
The vaccine lot is on the card, and that info is on record, to track down recipients of a bad lot. It will be very easy to verify fake cards by backchecking that database.
You see the lot # in the picture? You are recorded as receiving that lot, and can be crosschecked in a database.
Why I said it would be a good idea to look at a real card, to get an authentic lot number.
Well, if the “vaccine passport” is going to be effective, they will crosscheck names with the lot numbers. If your name isn’t on the list for the lot you are claiming on your card, you don’t get a passport.
Haven’t you been paying attention? The only vaccine ID there is at present in most places, and all I’ve been talking about, is a simple handwritten card. If they get to some kind of more stringent requirements, with cross-checking people’s medical information against vaccine-lot databases, then a good fake will be much more difficult. If it stays like it is currently, I don’t see some airline clerk running every passenger through multiple databases. They’ll just glance at the card.
