I knew that, but I did not know if all our Freepers did.
I had a friend some years ago who worked as a purchasing manager with an oil rig outfit in the Gulf. He was not a Cajun but had worked with many on the rigs over the years, and it was from him I learned the term coonass. I know there are many coonasses who with their offshore oil experience have worked all over the world.
Leif Holmlid used Shell 105 in his Rydberg Matter research, which is a hydrogen stripping catalyst useful in generating styrene plastics. Rydberg matter is an ordered arrangement of atoms into a regular geometric form with a planer structure, reminiscent of a snowflake. Production of RM from hydrogen gases requires a transfer of excess energy, somewhat analogous to the condensation of a gas to liquid accompanied by the release of “latent heat.”
Most of the successful hydrogen energy experiments in which the gas is adsorbed into a metallic lattice, release just about the same heat energy as Holmlid’s transforming hydrogen gas into the more dense Rydberg form.
Yup...poor coonasses going from the Gulf of Mexico to the North Sea to Alaska. I can just picture them "enlightening" the Eskimos and Scandahoovians to gumbo, Tabasco, and Tony Chachere's. Imagine...Alaskan King Crab etouffee.
