Had this at a Republican women’s pitch-in lunch a few weeks ago. Loved it.
CABBAGE CRUNCH SALAD
Dressing
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 cup oil
Heat until sugar melts
Add 2 tblsp soy sauce
Refrigerate
Crunch
1/2 cup butter (margarine can be substituted)
2 pkg Ramen noodles (chicken)
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup slivered almonds
Melt butter (or margarine) in large skillet. Break up noodles; brown in butter. Add nuts and seeds. Brown until golden. Add Ramen seasoning packets.
Refrigerate.
Chop up large head of cabbage. Mix dressing, cabbage and crunch just before serving.

Back when I was a young and poor family man, for lunch I’d take to work a pack of Ramen and a hot dog, cut up the hot dog in the noodles and cook til noodles were tender, al dente................In my early years of married with kids, toward the end of my paycheck we used to have chili bean soup with rice. That and beenie wienies. Once in a blue moon I do decide to exercise my cultural heritage and make these dishes. My spices and culinary skills have improved over the ages. Sadly my taste buds are still unconvinced.

I finally made this last night for dinner. I had to order the Chapagetti and Neoguri from Amazon because I couldn’t find it at any local stores. I made it according to the recipe along with the sautéed cubes of steak, a dash of sesame oil and some chopped green onions as a garnish.
Really good.
