Some Texans use 2021 Ford F-150 hybrid pickup trucks to power homes amid winter storm
Wait. An American corporation helping Americans? Isn’t that against the rules or something?
Ford comes through. God bless Ford.
Classy move in Ford’s part. But seeing as generators pollute Mother Earth, this move is bound to make some people upset.
American greatness shines again.
This man used his 2021 Ford F-150 to heat his house during Texas winter storm blackout
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/man-used-2021-ford-f-140213250.html
He just bought his new F-150 the first week of February, replacing his 2015 F-150, which replaced his 2010 F-150.
"We have hurricanes down here more than freezes. We went through two hurricanes just a few months ago," Jones said. "I bought the truck specifically because of the generator for my own safety. I'm happy I bought it. Some of my neighbors are too, because they could charge their cellphones and iPads off my power supply."
What’s the carbon footprint on THAT gonna be!
Good thing they can plug in a cord.
Cant’ have any of that Fossil Fuel stuff.
Generators, fossil fuels and big trucks to the rescue. Kinda reminds me of the boats, fossil fuel motors, and strong men to the rescue during floods.
Fascinating concept!
I may “Upgrade!”
Dem homeowners after the truck owner gets through saving them:
“And now get that gas guzzling big carbon footprint truck out of our driveway. Don’t you know it’s ruining the Earth’s ecology?”
Photos....
Uses of the emergency truck electricity....
Well it IS an emergency. Have you seen dad’s moods when he misses his morning coffee? Not a pretty sight.
Yes. As far as I know, NO electric vehicle has a generator to provide backup power.
Without petroleum products, we will freeze in the cold and there will be no industrialized civilization like the one we have.
I work at Ford.
It’s the best place I have ever worked.
The list is too long to capture except to say everyone treats each other with the utmost respect.
Never seen anything like it.
The were the first OEM to step up and switch production to ventilators.Ford
If Ford’s really smart, they’ll get photo of a Tesla being charged by an F-150.
That man looks as smug as a Prius driver!
Can hardly wait for the all electric f-150. Made in a zero emissions ford factory shipped by a zero emissions handling device to a zero emissions dealership. 😕
Bet you don’t see gmc doing this.
I have a 1500W auto->AC inverter in our emergency kit. At that point, you don’t need to run the whole house, just some emergency appliances, water pump, furnace (we do have a back up wood stove,) fridge (or put your cold stuff outside) enough lights to keep from walking into the walls. If you run it through the household circuit, remember to pull the mains first.
