Karlin Younger, an emergency management specialist at the Commerce Department, who originally came from Madison, Wisconsin, and who shortly after the events of Jan 6 made her way back there to Madison (rather than to her workplace in DC) where she was interviewed by a Wisconsin paper about her discovery.

Karlin Younger, grew up in Madison’s Bay Creek neighborhood and graduated from West High School in 2002. After earning her undergrad degree at UW Madison in International Relations, she worked in China, studied at Oxford and worked in London before returning to the United States and eventually settling in Washington D.C. to work for the U.S. Department of Commerce. . .On Wednesday, January 6th Ms. Younger was working remotely on the Dept. of Commerce’s FirstNet project, a communications network dedicated to first responders from her apartment a few of blocks from the U.S. Capitol; and

WHEREAS, At lunchtime, Ms. Younger decided to check on her laundry, which required her to walk to the back of her building adjacent to the Republican National Committee (RNC) building, and

WHEREAS, Because she is very observant, she saw what she initially thought was recycling but with a closer look discovered what appeared to be a pipe bomb apparently set to explode in twenty minutes, and

WHEREAS, She immediately reported the device to a guard at the RNC and local law enforcement who evacuated the block and disarmed the device with a water cannon and quickly discovered another device near the Democratic National Committee headquarters, and

Well, that is interesting...Firstnet has come up before... It appears to be part of an effort started in 2012 to phase out Ham radio, either because it is deemed a security risk to the Fed gov, which may be interested in restricting the ability of citizens and
/or revolutionaries to communicate during crisis, or to silence alternatives to approved media, or maybe for several reasons, to thwart foreign agents. California jumped on board by trying to shut down repeaters, or some such thing. The formation of Firstnet seemed to follow discovery of Chinese imported radios that were able to operate on frequencies beyond FCC approved frequencies for Ham gear. Makes me wonder if Nellie Ohr had bought Chinese gear.

The feds seem to want to replace private Ham operators with federally controlled Firstnet. Not just creating improvements on emergency communication, an alternative to Ham, but to make regulatory changes that make Ham less practical...according to SHTF groups, California’s going after repeaters is one such move.

A couple links on FirstNet:

Not sure it’s a replacement for ham radio.

The FBI said the investigation had revealed new information, including that the explosive devices were placed outside the two buildings between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, the night before the riot.

Since they had kitchen timers...unless there was a remote way to set those timers, then this was either a blackmail threat to prove capability, or it was intended to go off after dark the night of Jan 5 not some time the next day. So, assuming it isn't a blackmail threat proof, what possible target would the person setting it expect to hit at that time of night on Jan 5, 2021?
