Conservatives .
Humans have individual dignity and the ability to think for theirselves and make decisions for theirselves .
We will make individual decisions to better our lives and will live with our decisions for better or worse .
Liberals . People are not sophisticated enough to make their own decisions . They need a strong government presence to be taken care of and protected from their own ignorance .
There is no “classical” version.
“Conservative” is completely a relative term. Relative to what is normal, either in time or place.
Conservatives of the US today want to CONSERVE what makes the USA the USA.
Liberal simply means NOT conservative. Upsetting the order.
You misunderstand. “Progressive” is a double entendre.
The original “progressives” developed the term specifically meaning GRADUAL, not “advanced”. However, it was great because people first assume they want to “advance” and get better.
As usual with commies, they were deceptive and duplicitous in using words.
Yes, and they conflate progress with change.
Most people inherently do. Look at the obsession with “technology”. Almost any new invention now is seen as progress. Sometimes successful, but inevitably overtaken by yet another. Sometimes look back and realize that last touted thing wasn’t so great after all, as they tout the next one.

Note: plenty of Control Freaks on both sides of “liberals” and “conservatives.” Always ask, “Will this (action or person) increase or decrease personal freedom?”
(Note: Control Freaks are the leaders, but fearful people make up 95% of thier base. I count the “You’ll burn in hell!” people on the Control Freak side. Flame (get it?) away.)

Freedom Lovers depend on the support (votes, $) from other Freedom Lovers. But us FLs are notoriously difficult to organize, which is why you don’t see FL marches. Until Trump. Which is a major reason why they fear him so. Previous FL organization effort (TEA Party, Proud Boys, Turning Point, etc) always got blown up by Control Freaks, as they knew an organized group of FLs could kill their entire marxist scheme.
Control Freaks just have to keep a big group scared, to get and keep power. That is much, much easier.
So we must stay with the Trump Movement, and I advocate a new party of that. They can’t blow it up—they’ve tried for 5 years. But they will try to assimilate them into the R party, where the movement will die. And if that doesn’t work, they’ll arrest us.
