Duck back in the alley with Long Tall Sally;
Take her up on a mountain to a sudden valley.
Roll over Beethoven till your face turns blue,
Shake a hand, kiss Speedoo with the blue suede shoes.
Make a flying saucer out of Maybelline.
That’s how you follow the rock.
Rock around the clock with an old hound,
Take a flat-topped head and shave it round.
Make a band of gold from a hollow stone,
Get stranded in the jungle after you go home.
Find out why fools fall in love.
That’s how you follow the rock.
Then go a thousand miles away to Blueberry Hill,
Do a rock and roll waltz on a window sill;
And why, baby, my doll’s all shook up?
This ought to bring you luck.
Make a a pledge of love to a party doll,
Find 99 ways to make a toll call.
Get a teenage crush on Marianne,
Now don’t be cruel; do the best you can.
Rock around your baby, never, never stop.
That’s how you follow the rock.
Jump back, baby,
Jump back, baby,
Jump back, baby,
Jump back, baby.
Whoa!
That’s how you follow the rock.
Several of the saved stations on my car radio are oldies stations. But now some 80s are being called oldies.
Whan “Beep Beep” by the Playmates was riding the charts, it was featured on the TV show Captain Kangaroo. The Captain and his sidekick Mr. Greenjeans pretended they were driving cars, using 16mm movie cans for steering wheels.
