I’ve had s0me good sammiches in Ca
Mmm. A slice of heaven right here on planet earth.
I have found that the best ones are usually in bars. Not that I frequent bars, but when I do, I always look for a good reuben.
Should be a Maid Rite, 1000%.
Texas credited with some unknown, un-heard-of San Antone gordita sandwich, when it should be the fresh cheap-bun chopped/sliced BBQ brisket w/onions, pickles and jalapenos.
A “best” California sandwich without Avocado? Are they nuts?
“Should be a Maid Rite, 1000%.”
Wouldn’t argue with that sandwich either. 100% Mid-West legit.
Try a NY/NJ dinner.
bars, pubs, yes I only go there for good reubens
(usually while reading 1970s playboy magazines for the great articles and especially the vintage ads
My at home favorite is a BAT (Bacon, Avocado and Tomatoes) on toast, and plenty of mayo.
And the bacon has to be CRISP!!!
Love the cubano sandwich in Miami.
millions do.
I’m with you! The Village Pantry in Los Altos serves a great BAT (actually BALT).

Legendary sandwich was a Carnegie Deli corned beef or pastrami. Massive 5-6 inches of meat at the center. One could feed a family of 8 with doggie bags for all :)
Anyone from Nebraska will tell you without reservation that the state “sandwich” is the Runza.
If any state should highlight a BBQ’d iguana sandwich it would be Arizona.
Flo’s Hotdogs has to be right up there for Maine- not really a sandwhich, but a lunch meal anyways- world famous sauce- it’s just a tiny little shack, but usually there are lines every lunch hour- people order 4-5-6 or even more-
And of course for Texas they pick a sandwich 90 percent of the state has never heard of and wouldn’t order.
