My father remembered a time when the New England towns simply packed the snow down with a horse-drawn roller to make it easier for sleighs.

Did you use your ‘pilot light’ to help her? : )

#18: I thought I saw a person approaching the blower, then came a white out. Next visible moment the person was directly in front of the blower and fell down in the deep snow. I hit the kill switch immediately.

I got out and there was this drunken lady looking up at me saying: “I need a man, I need a man”. As it turned out she needed someone to light her furnace.

I read a large book back in the late 70’or early 80’s about stories of snow and trains and avalanches and escapes.
Nature is mean. Also read the Donner cookbook.

Of 52 graders 51 were broken down along about the big snow of 1987 in Washington dc. The national guard pushed the snow to bail out the democrat desk occupiers. The effectiveness of progress is dependent on more things just saying?

Heh, I am hoping I don’t need to buy another one before my snowblowing days are over...

The one I have had going on twenty years now is an 8 HP Toro, and it still does the work. Good thing, too, since my back is so lousy...

I don’t think I would buy an electric one, but...that technology has probably changed so much since I last tried one, so you never know.

Your horse draw drum was called a “tumbrel” and it was the most common form of snow control in the colonies.
