too expensive when I last saw it in a freezer at a meat market.
I liked turtle soup when I was growing up.

Charismatic animals grow unpopular as food sources in direct proportion to their level of media exposure.
And today's generation of young foodies grew up watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so they aren't likely to have a sudden change of perspective. :)

I would think sea turtle would be a lot different tasting than snapping turtle.

Read the entire article, still have no desire for turtle soup. I’ll settle for Sinatra’s song: “is it the good turtle soup, or merely the mock?” (Long last love.)

There is no shortage of folks with 100 pound tortoises around here in Phoenix. Is that close enough to turtle?

I ate snapping turtle, but they were caught in my grandpa’s large pond.
Sadly, I no longer live near there to do what my uncle and father used to do.
You don’t want snapping turtles eating your fish or biting swimming children.

Couple years and they will be saying the same for chicken and beef which will be replaced by lab grown meat and other fake stuff.

I occasionally had turtle back in the days when you were allowed to go to restaurants. I haven’t had mutton since I was a kid. It was a good everyday meal. I’d love to have a little more variety to the meats in my diet but I don’t want to pay through the nose for what was once considered common and inexpensive. Goat, rabbit and just about any game are fine meals.
