Who said I count on him?
All I said was, as President pro tempore of the Senate, he would count the votes if Pence were absent.
How is that "counting on him"?
I count on no one. This has been a done deal for almost two months, and given the amount of preparation and bipartisan cooperation needed to pull it off, probably much longer.
To paraphrase the definition of insanity...
“Voting on the same Dominion machines but expecting different results.”
No, not at all. The designee to preside then would be the Senate President Pro Tempore..
Trump runs again in 24 and 28?

At Trumps age he is thru running, imo.
Vice President Pence has long been admired for his image as a dedicated Christian. However, we all know that we could be in a time when Christians will be persecuted for doing what is right according to their Christian values and God’s Holy Word. If he is put into a position like that, he will have to make a decision about what is right, not according to his fear or the pressure to go along to get along. His Christian values will compel him to do the right thing even if he is threatened with punishment. If he doesn’t, well then, he loses his influence and his image as a Christian to those who believe. Pray that Vice President Pence will do the right thing.
True but this thread seems to be speculation gone wild.
What if monkeys flew out of Jim Acosta’s butt.
It would be wild...right?
Agreed
current pro tem is grassley who would be president of senate should pence resign before new pro tem elected
True but this thread seems to be speculation gone wild.

LOL... That’s the case much of the time, imo. Sometimes
it’s fun to help it along.
Hubert Humphrey didn't preside in 1969 and Nixon was still confirmed as president.
Yes she could. If the president dies, the vice-president becomes president. Article II.
So would Trump continue until a special election were held?
Unless something changes the current election results then Trump is out of office at noon on January 20th. There is nothing in the Constitution that allows for special elections for the president or for remaining in office once his term is over.
Biden wouldn’t be President if he keeled over in the next two weeks, and thus she would not succeed him. That is the dilemma in “what if” scenario that I was painting. In other words, The Presidency would not change because Biden was “President-elect”, and not President. She would not have a formal office, not even Senator. Talking about your Constitutional crisis. “There is nothing in the Constitution that allows for special elections for the president or for remaining in office once his term is over.” There is the conundrum: There has never been an instance where there was not a “President-elect” that would assume his duties on January 20th, and there is nothing in the Constitution that allows for that.
Somehow I think they could find a way to keep SlowJoe’s heart beating until inauguration day. I know a comatose Julia Carson from here in Indiana was wheeled into the Capitol for a few votes before she was pronounced dead.
Twentieth Amendment Section 3
If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.
Yes she would. I should have been quoting the 20th Amendment, Section 3: "If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President."
There is the conundrum: There has never been an instance where there was not a âÂÂPresident-electâ that would assume his duties on January 20th, and there is nothing in the Constitution that allows for that.
The term of the President ends at noon on January 20th. Even without the 20th Amendment Trump could not continue on, there would be no special election, the new president would be next in line of presidential succession. But the 20th Amendment solved your scenario.
