The paint scheme on it now is a timeless classic, instantly recognized worldwide.

Not to me. That trend has also swept hotels lately. All dark and angular modular wood, white tile, no carpet. They all look like hospital rooms.

There’s a proper cheap motel (50 dollars a night) near me that was last decorated in the early 80s, and it’s often compared to the set of a TV soap called” Crossroads”. It looked hilariously outdated...
Then I had the joy of staying in a Wyndham in NH which had the exact same colour scheme, but to a much higher standard and far more modern finish... it looked great.
