Yeah, I heard how that crowd greeted POTUS at the Army-Navy game.

The Supreme Court comprehends that its reach does not extend to felony and larceny in the voting precincts.

That job belongs to the citizens of those states and residents of those neighborhoods to police their vote properly. And not to complain if they haven’nt. Not sayin’ that’s right or wrong. Just the way it is.

Allowing things to deteriorate into a “near Civil War” status and then expecting the “mother of all kraken” birthed in the US Supreme Court to save the day just isn’t about to happen. Neither is some magical EO about to save the day.

A massive revelation of foreign intrusion upon the integrity of the vote could possibly invalidate the election. But it will need half the House and Senate to be uncomfortable enough to do so. We the People do have the capacity to make them uncomfortable. But we have to knock on their doors 24 hrs a day about it for the next 4 weeks. If we do so the Insurrection Act can be enacted successfully.

Can’t leave it up to Sidney Powell and Lin Wood

".... shutting down Congress and the courts, jailing people who oppose him...."

Who said anything about shutting down congress and the courts? Not I.

And he wouldn't be jailing people who just oppose him. Remember, they committed crimes by committing election fraud. They just weren't "peacefully protesting" their dislike for Trump.

".... I believe Trump has too much respect for the Constitution and the Founding Fathers to do something as crazy as declaring martial law and sending in the troops...."

Why do you think Trump would be disrespecting the Constitution and the Founding Fathers if he invoked a legal, legitimate law, the Insurrection Act, passed by Congress and signed by a previous president? Why is following the constitution and trying to keep the Republic from falling into Marxist hands considered a violation of that respect?

If this treasonous attempt at a coup d'état against a legitimate winning president and the attempt to illegitimately take over the country isn't reason enough to invoke the Insurrection Act, then I don't know what would be.

If Trump goes down, it won't be for not trying every last available tool in his presidential tool box. And he won't go down without taking a bunch of treasonous, democRATic traitors down with him.

I'll finish by saying this. One never succeeds or wins in life or whatever endeavor you seek, by looking for ways not to succeed or win. You must look for ways to win or you never will. This is Trump's last chance if he is going to remain in the WH. Anything short of that by second guessing and looking for excuses why you can't do something, are going to result in failure. My money is on Trump.

“Abe Lincoln threatened to arrest Chief Justice Taney for running his mouth in the opening days of the Civil War.”

He was considering arresting Taney, not for what he said, but for what he did.
Taney granted writs of Habeas Corpus to Maryland legislators that had been jailed without charges by the Army officials in Maryland. Justice Taney also pointed out to President Lincoln that he lacked the Constitutional authority to suspend the writ of Habeas Corpus.

Who said anything about shutting down congress and the courts? Not I.

From your reply 54: "As long as the president has the military on his side, it looks like he can do this on his own without the courts, governors or the Congress." Doesn't martial law require shutting down anything that can interfere with it in order to be effective?

And he wouldn't be jailing people who just oppose him. Remember, they committed crimes by committing election fraud.

Anyone who Trump thinks committed election fraud would be arrested. Or overlooked election fraud? Or aided and abetted election fraud? You can sweep up a lot of people with a broom that big.

Why do you think Trump would be disrespecting the Constitution and the Founding Fathers if he invoked a legal, legitimate law, the Insurrection Act, passed by Congress and signed by a previous president.

I believe that declaring martial law and suspending Constitutional rights and protections under the guise of election fraud is not something the insurrection act was meant for. It was meant to suppress...insurrection. Where are the 'unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages'? Where is the rebellion? What is making enforcing the laws by the normal course of judicial proceedings impracticable?

“The military will tell Trump to go pound sand.”

And you know this how?

I know some people in the military. They love Trump.

Better have proof?

Trump was accused of being a traitor and a Russian asset by high democrat politicians. Did they have proof? How were they punished?

..............good points! Imagine how unprotected Lincoln was compared to today. Meaning Lincoln was totally exposed physically. Amazing that he was not assassinated during the war instead of immediately afterward.

They swear allegiance to the Constitution not the President.

As to your first point. It looks like you agree with me that I never mentioned shutting down the courts or congress. So it is you who suggest that, not I.

As to your second point, Trump has evidence that you and I aren't privy to. I'm sure he is looking for the people who planned these coordinated efforts to deny his ballots and replace them with illegal Biden ballots. Not the janitor who swept the floor after wards. I don't think Trump is sitting in his basement like you are speculating about these things. He'll have hard evidence to use to arrest them. If he has the Dominion server, that will tell him a lot right there.

And to your final point, the Insurrection Act may have originally been about insurgencies, but is has been updated and rewritten for the 21st century and it has broaden the definition of what the law covers.

The President’s ability to use force isn’t restricted to actual rebellion or insurgency. He can act against merely unlawful combinations and conspiracies. To be clear: If the President decides that a conspiracy has deprived people of a right and believes that authorities fail or refuse to protect the right, he can send in the troops.

Beyond your speculation and my attempt at answering your hypotheticals, we'll have to wait and see if Trump even invokes the law. If he does, he has advisors above our pay grade who can steer him in the right direction.

I don't worry so much about Trump making a misstep. After all, he is still the president and can wield a pretty big club when it comes to saving the Republic.

I worry more about the bad guys getting away with this coup d'état with impunity and no one in our government with enough balls to stand up against them and they have our way with letting the Chinese Communists have their way with the Republic. Without even firing a shot.

While we stand around counting beans and fretting over whether we're doing the right thing or wondering whether we crossed all the Ts and dotted all the Is, while our enemies take control of our country without a qualm. And where the Insurgency Act will be used against us, instead of the other way around.

Merry Christmas.

I'm in the military. In the enlisted ranks some people love Trump. Some people can't stand him. Many (if not most) are apolitical. They live playing video games and don't spend much time thinking about politics one way or the other.

Now in the officer ranks, the people who will be giving orders, Biden has the advantage. You're not going to find a lot of high-ranking officers who are looking at the 2020 election as a catastrophe and a constitutional crisis. These are the ones who will tell Trump to piss off and the troops they lead will follow them. You'll not find in the military a great urgency to take to the streets to keep Joe Biden out of the White House.

I quoted where you said that. Or are you suggesting that Trump would leave the courts and Congress running but just ignore them?

As to your second point, Trump has evidence that you and I aren't privy to.

Of course he does. So why not have his Justice Department indicting people and bringing them to trial? As the Constitution mandates? Why the need for martial law and suspending the Constitution?

To be clear: If the President decides that a conspiracy has deprived people of a right and believes that authorities fail or refuse to protect the right, he can send in the troops.

So you're saying that any president can at any time without any retrictions call out the military and declare martial law? What if the courts say no?

“They swear allegiance to the Constitution not the President.”

Are you really conflicted as to who upholds the Constitution?

“These are the ones who will tell Trump to piss off and the troops they lead will follow them.”

I knew you would say that. Some of the troops will, some won’t. People talk about a civil war here, and if it happens it might start with civilians, but it will end with military fighting each other.
