NASA Wants To Build A Nuclear Plant On The Moon
We would need a very long extension cord...
It was. Third DVD was special features. I posted this correct info to myself.
Size and weight matters in all things “space.” The cooling problem is non-trivial.
“On the moon, you’d have to heat the metal to make it flow - surface temp Minus 280-396 F”
The pile will do that. You could even let it run hotter than typical. And during the day, on the moon, the temp get up to around 100 degrees C (212 F). So there’s quite a swing, and you’d want something more well-behaved than water in the cooling system.
Plus, there would be a containment dome - not for keeping in radiation, but for regulating heat.
“That show was actually pretty good for 70’s sci-fi cheese.”
I agree. All the sci-fi from that era was by modern standards, crap, in terms of science, production quality and even the acting. But I truly despise the “reimagining” the low talent tainters from Hollywood have done to shows like Battlestar Galactica. I preferred the cheesy version where the good guys were good guys and the bad guys were bad guys. Now there are only bad guys, some worse than others.
McMoon to test new Nuclear Plant based burgers...
Annnd they are easy to find in the dark!
So much for that cute little Cape Cod with the picket fence and the lovely view of Mars while looking out over the cool moonscape.
Leave it to mankind to ruin everything.
NP.
