Johnny Cash shot a man in Reno just to watch him die!
You are a lucky guy.
A great line from one of his many great songs (Georgia on a Fast Train):
Got a good Christian raisin’ and an eighth grade education
Ain’t no need in y’all a treatin’ me this way
It’s a great song.
RIP.
He’s gonna’ live forever.
Thanks for posting it all, mylife. Saving
Yeah. I knew Ed way before I did some cipherin’.
It hit me like, hey I just figured out who your daddy is...
Really?
It’s like knowing Lucas Hubbard and not knowing Ray Wylie!
Like knowing Natalie but not Lloyd Maines...
Close, I went to tech school in Bellmead, TX. Eddie worked at a guitar shop on old Dallas 77 not far from Leslie’s chicken shack.
Never said much about the old man. Back in 91 or so.
Sometimes you should let dogs be.
I loves me some Shaver, but that is a wicked road.
I knew Eddie. Amen.
Indeed
I saw him a few times here in music city and once in Big D
Waylon adored him.
I saw him at the exit in on Elliston place right before Eddie ODed in Waco
I called my cousin .....a commie in San Francisco whos never the less a true axe man in his own right who makes a living at it sometimes
His reply:
You mean Eddie Shaver.....the Jeff Beck of Texas country ...
No kidding I was blown away ....Eddie Shaver was an incredible guitar player...just wow.....and from 15 feet away .....
My wife who didnt know Shaver from Shinola but who knows her rock music was like dayum.....this is country?
Well,sort of..
RIP to both ....each deserves every accolade
And Billy Joe....what a mug...
Great story.

Wow, I forgot I posted that!
Wow, I forgot I posted that!
Back in ‘10 I don’t know if I even knew who Billy Joe Shaver was.
In 2009 I began traveling a lot and would listen to Outlaw Country on satellite radio in the plane or rental car.
That’s when I heard Live Forever and Step On Up.
Not sure when this stuff rubbed off on me.
Sometime after 92 when I moved to Texas.
