They knew damned well 9 weeks ago that the typical wait was nowhere near 2-4 weeks. Could some government code monkey update to say 'normally typical wait time is 2-4 weeks, due to COVID restrictions on in-person work we are experiencing [number]-[number] weeks review times'?
No that would be silly, they want you to be irritated!
There isn't any discernible way to check on your status (Good thing! They'd spend all their time responding to inquiries, and none actually processing claims!) but they do have a system in place to email us when the review is complete, it wouldn't be much more effort to update us weekly with how many people are in your reviewer's queue ahead of you, and an updated expected completion date. Fully automated, the data about how many each reviewer has on his/her/per/xyr/vis/hir/eir desk, and where you are in that queue is already in their tracking system, they already know how many that reviewer processes in a day, but after all, math is racis...
All that is entirely true. Just like the DMV, they have you over a barrel, and they have literally no incentive to provide better customer service or even just be decent people. If some are decent people doing the best job they can, they are doing it *against* the incentives of the job.
Our weekend was COLD. Who knew Memorial Day could have temperatures in the 50s when not living in Alaska. It was also rainy.
Otherwise it was pleasant.
COVID.
It doesn’t actually slow anything down at SSA but it provides them cover for longer coffee breaks. Or shorter breaks from drinking coffee to do work, which is probably more accurate.
My daughter’s weekend was cold too, and very rainy, but she loves it since she spent so much of her adult life in Vegas. Unlike a lot of people who would just stay and complain about the heat year after year, she actually left.
She even had a toasty fire going in the Franklin!
G'deve, y'all.
Expecting new fridge to arrive on Friday. Yay!
Congratulations on the imminent arrival of the new fridge!
Those kittehs woke me up with their cuteness. You posted and I was catapulted out of bed.
Good morning.
I have to go to the library today, as well as the bank to get quarters, to Walgreen’s and of all things, I have to go to Lin’s to pay for a case of water I took but wasn’t charged for on Saturday. They stack the cases at the entryway, and if you tell the checker how many you want, she’ll charge you and you can pull your vehicle up to put as many into it as you want. No schlepping them twice, into the cart then into the vehicle.
I checked the receipt for some reason and it isn’t on there, so I need to go pay for it.
I contacted U-Haul last night and changed the reservation to August 3, because June 12 is just too soon. I sent an email, so I don’t know if they will change it, but I will call when I’ve had my shower and make sure it’s taken care of.
Good morning. Yes, June 12 is too soon!
I just realized yesterday that it IS June! I don’t know why I was thinking the truck rental was farther away, but here we are! With any luck the next six weeks will find me making the last minute preparations for the move.
Today is my Favorite Son’s birthday, and I’m about to head for the shower.
Nothing will get done today but errands. Tomorrow may be different, but I’m not going to push it. At least I don’t have to take time out to make a birthday cake...
Happy Birthday to the son! I’m trying to motivate the Very Numerous Sons here to do something, anything ...
Good morning. Happy Humph Day! It sort-of feels like Twosday because of a holiday on Monday. Oh, well.
Today marks 2 months without a seizure.
Good morning. Excellent news about the “monthlyversary,” as we used to say at the insurance company.
I got scarmabled when I was reading the daily lectionary: thought it was Thorsday instead of today.
Thanks! I’ll send on your wishes to him. ;o]
I’m going to head to Lin’s now, before it gets too crowded with tourists.
BRB
Best wishes for a successful trip!
Crikey!
I made the right turn on the side street, going the back way to Lin’s, and way down the street, I see these red numbers, “36.” They started to go up as I began to accelerate up the incline, and then I realized it was me being tracked! Well, nuts.
Since it’s a series of slight inclines to the crest, I usually accelerate to make sure I can get over up the hill in something besides granny gear. The speed limit, I read, at the bottom of the display, is 25 mph. (I knew that, though, but at this hour? In this town?)
I will go on the main road until they’re done with whatever it is they’re checking on that street.
Good idea! Glad you made it back safely.
Lin’s is just down the street, a little over a mile from here. I could walk it, if I wanted to show off, but I’m too lazy.
I just spent about 45 minutes chatting with U-Haul about the changes to the equipment rental, and I panicked when it showed the pick-up point as a place way over on the southwest side of Las Vegas. Come to find out, it’s only a “reservations hub” whatever that means. (Give a ol’ lady a hard attackt.)
Walgreen’s, the bank and the library will be done a little later. It’s hazy today, but the temp will be in the 90’s. Then five days of 100°+ then back into the 90’s again.
Will you enjoy being warm? It’s cloudy here and might rain later. I’m making chili for supper, and when that’s done, maybe I will paint.
