Had it. Scarred my lungs badly and I now have emphysema. Was hospitalized twice because of it. I’m now leaving my job because the position is considered essential and if I get it again it will probably kill me.
Know 2 people who lost family members from it.
My kids had it, they were able to shake it off after a few days, thank God.
Yes, I wore a mask.
I know several people that have had it. One man in his 50s almost died but pulled through. Another one in 30s said it was bad for 5 days or so but came out OK. Another lady in 30s struggled with for 3 weeks and was hospitalized.
Impact seems to vary. Its nothing to scoff at. One should exercise individual responsibility and avoid getting it. Thats what I have been doing.
I believe I might have it back in December/January. I thought I had a flare of my chronic sinusitis and went to see my PCP for some antibiotics. He informed me that my sinuses were actually in pretty good shape and that I probably had flu. I was pretty sick for about 2 weeks, and took some time off work. Many of my colleagues also came down with flu also. I recovered nicely and I have felt well since, except for problems with all the smoke coming in from the California fires this summer. I try to avoid wearing that darn mask as much as I can because of allergies, asthma and the aforementioned sinusitis and somewhat low 02 sats because of these problems. Last time I saw my PCP, about 2 weeks ago, wearing the mask and sitting in a chair, my O2 sat was 91%.
I live near a reservation and I have heard that people living there have had some pretty bad problems but otherwise no one I know.
I visit crowded retailers daily, Walmart, Home Depot, local convenience stores. Wash my hands compulsively.
I know six who have died from COVID-19, no, myself and my family haven’t had it, but then again, aside from myself, you can count on your fingers the number of times the rest of the family has been ‘out and about.’ On my block, two homes have had someone in it with COVID, but then again, they’re also the ones who had weekend parties every weekend for the past 7 months.
Got it wearing a mask (n-95 at that..but we already know masks don’t work). The flu is 10x worse. I had a fever for 13 days, low to immeasurable in the morning, a little more powerful at night. Couldnt take a full breath without triggering cough reflex for about 4 days. Kids all got it. Were over it in one day. Wife got it, was over it in a week. Mother in law got it, was over with it in a week (and she has underlying health issues). Affects everyone differently. To me, a non-event. Didn’t phase me
Although I know people who know people who have had COVID, I don’t know anyone who has had it.
My husband & I have had to self quarantine, twice but have not had covid, that we know of. We don’t wear masks unless made to [Dr office, hair cuts] Friends that visited our home, called 2 days later to say they both got sick and tested positive. She had a mild case & he had no symptoms. I think they are both in their 40’s, [he is overweight]? My son and daughter in law had it. My son had a bad case. Very sick for almost 2 weeks, low grade fever, GI issues, no taste or smell, cough, severe body aches. He is a bit overweight and has high BP....he never had breathing issues and recovered about a month ago but still complains of fatigue hitting mid day. My daughter in law had a mild case. She had a headache, stuffy head, low grade fever and fatigue. She recovered in about a week and was back to work in 10 days. They are both in their late 40’s, she wears a mask [shes a nurse], my son doesn’t wear a mask at work which is where he got the virus. [He cant wear a mask due to the heat at work]. Son & d-i-l know 2 people from their church who died, both elderly and both with health issues.
Call the Red Cross or download the app. They are supposed to tell you of your antibody status within two weeks.
I had to follow up through the app to get them to properly post the results, which were negative.
I have had Covid along with my Husband, Sister, BIL, Niece and Nephew and my 92 year old Mother. We all survived it. We all caught by my BIL who is a Police Officer. He gave to Sister, Niece, Nephew. They brought my mother to me 4 hours away not knowing they caught it. Long story short...
Ages 19-92. I had no symptoms except fatigue. Husband had cough, fatigue, and a fever for 3 days. Most had cough and fever. We all took Tylenol and thats it other than vitamin C and Zinc.
Mother had the worst of it. 15 weeks of Covid and 3 of those weeks in hospital. Hydroxycoliqine, zinc, and zpac for 5 days. No ventilator but she was on oxygen. It was a rough road, but she is home and has nursing at home. Mostly she is weak. She will be 93 next month. Also, my niece has Down syndrome. She took a bit longer to go thru it, but she was a champ.
We caught it back in March. We all have tested for antibodies. I do not wear a mask, nor did we wear masks in March. I live by the beach and stay in outdoors as much as possible.
My nephew had it very bad but made it and our parish priest tested positive today.
I was tested because I had a persistent cough from forest fires in Oregon and Ca blown by wind into Eestern WA. So I got test. Tested negative. No fever, ever.
Cough kept on because I have to leave humidifier on all night because of eye condition. I read that Trump was prescribed 6mg Melatonin to dry his lungs..So I took 3 mg and stopped coughing at night...also sleeping very well.
I go to the gym 5x per week, have temp checked before I sign in. No temp.
Masks required at supermarkets. OK I have masks. Lots of them. Keep them in the glove compartment and in my purse. They are a royal PIA, but oh wel.
In terms of age, I am in the “high risk” group, but I take, and have taken for the last 40 years, supplements that boost the immune system:
D3, A, C (1500 mg of Liposomal C,) D3 in the form of Carlson’s Norwegian Cod Liver Oil, Iodine ( kelp granules). and chelated zinc.
My manager and her family got it and all were fine. The husband had breathing issues for a few weeks after, but thinks hes fine today.
I have a relative in another country and her family all got it and were fine, but two teachers their kids likely got it from both died. They were rather older and among the first in their country to get and die from it. My relatives were local celebrities, in a negative way.
do you know how your son got it?
I personally have not had it. I know seven people who have had it. Four quarantined at home. Mild symptoms. Recovered just fine. Three more serious. All hospitalizations. Two recovered but still have side effects. One died. The one who died was early forties with comorbidities
Two co-workers lost their husbands to the China Virus. The first was a Chicago Police Officer (the first to die of the virus) and the second was a Chicago Fireman.
A friend's mother died of complications due to the virus after contracting it while also battling heart disease. Another friends father died after a four year battle with lung cancer and the stupid coroner marked it "Covid-19". The family fought like hell to get that removed, the coroner refused.
Personally I'm immune system compromised due to taking Humira for my ankylosing spondylitis. I only wear a mask when I go grocery shopping (required by all the major food chains here..) and even then it's a simple cloth mask that wouldn't protect me from the virus anyway.
I take what I think are reasonable precautions. I keep hand sanitizer with me; I don't touch my face after touching anything the public does and I keep my circle of friends small and close. I don't wear a mask outside (despite a bunch of Karens who seem dedicated to screaming at people who don't) and I don't wear one while exercising (walking, riding my bike.)
My GF and I go out to eat at least once a week and given we live in the Chicago area (way outside the city) and the weather's getting colder we eat indoors at restaurants.
Even with my immune system being compromised, I don't worry about it. I do the things I should do to take care of myself, take extra Vitamin D3 and supplement with Zinc (which I learned to do thanks to reading FR.)
If I'm not worried about it, healthier people than me shouldn't worry about it either.
The one who died refused to wear a mask. As required in our state, my son and I wear masks to enter a store or business. One relative who got covid is a bus driver and got it early on. His relatives seemed to catch it at a funeral in early March.
Quercetin ,,
Overweight. He was married to my cousin years ago, but marriage was annulled.
I don’t know know anyone who has had it.
